The Canal from West Stockwith to Kiveton Park is owned and managed by British Waterways. The Canal from Chesterfield to Staveley is owned and managed by Derbyshire County Council. The section under restoration between Staveley and Kiveton Park is in multiple ownerships. As restoration proceeds ownership is being transferred to Derbyshire County Council.
